The Chief of Akyem Hemang in the Fanteakwa South District of Eastern region, Osabarima Mmirrikkissi Okasum Apori Atta has again descended on the miners in the fanteakwa particularly the Narawa Company Ltd.

Osabarima Apori Atta accused the Narawa Company for illegally encroaching the land of Hemang and polluting the water bodies in the area.

Again, these miners have got into mining the sacred grove of akyem Hemang which detests him the most. Osabarima Apori Atta can not fathom why people will not destroy church buildings and mosques and rather destroying his sacred grove.

“Illegal miners are recalcitrant. They don’t respect. In Ghana, we have Christians, Muslims and Traditionalist yet we live in peace. if you are a Christian, go to your church, If you are a muslim, go to your mosque and let we the traditionalists worship our gods.”

According to him, if the government does not remedy the situation as soon as possible, things will get out of hand and they might resort to the use of their own prowess. It is by these reasons why he petitions the presidency to pay heed to his petitions.

“What i am saying is a treat to national security. I don’t give licence to mining but government does. But if you don’t obey the procedures, we won’t allow you to mine”, he said.

However, he called for amicable consensus to remedy the menace else he may call on the natives of Hemang and things may get worse.

A fortnight ago, Nana Apori led Galamstop to storm the Narawa company ltd, burnt their machines which they believe the miners were using to pollute the Birim river. The case is still at court pending jurisdiction.
