The Eastern regional deputy Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Kudjo Adukpo has revealed that the former president John Dramani Mahama has cancelled his tour to the Eastern region to attend funeral of his late driver.
According to the deputy Secretary, there are also two other flagbearship aspirants from the same party in the region canvassing for votes and they are providing internal security so if former president John Dramani Mahama adds up to the two already in the region, his safety is not guaranteed and therefore calls for postponement.
In a phone interview with Kudjo Adukpo on Bekyerem, a political show on Radio 1FM 100.7MHZ, on Thursday January 10, 2019, he told the host Owuraku Asamoah that by next week Monday the other aspirants would finish their tour and the party can confidently assure his safety.
“The funeral is not the only reason why the visit is postponed but other factors such as other flagbearership aspirants are in the region and the National security alone can not assure his safety. The party also needs to provide for his security”, he said.
