Zoomlion To Introduce Mobile Compost Plant Across All The Regions In Ghana

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a garbage collection company in Ghana has introduced an initiative for processing of garbage that is being disposed around anyhow which always litter the environment and results in the outbreak of diseases in the country to make the country a clean country by using a machine known as Mobile Compost Plant (MCP).

He disclosed that the company is importing ten of the plants into the country and establish plant sites in all the other regions of the country and this will create employment for the youth in the country.

 Over 150 youths will be employed in the various regions, he said.

Speaking in an interview on RADIO1’s Environmental Show – Our Land Our Future on Tuesday 8th January, 2019, the Programme Manager for MOBILE COMPOST PLANT (MCP) Oteng Agyare, revealed that the hallmark of Zoomlion is to ensure a clean nation devoid of litters in our environment.

According to the Programs Manager, the MCP which is based in Agyin Kotoku in the Greater Accra region is used to process the garbage that is being generated and litters the streets and environs of Accra as well as other parts of the country.

He explained that they use ultra-modern technique to separate the organic refuse like leftover foods and the likes that can decompose and are processed into organic fertilizers which can be used by farmers; applying to crops like vegetables, cocoa and cash crops. Also it can be used to fertilize gardens and flowers to flourish and look greenish. These fertilisers would be neatly packaged in 50kg bags and sold across the country for it to be purchased by farmers.

Agyare further explained that the plastic waste is also processed and recycled into plastic pellets. He said the companies that produce plastic products like bowls, polytank, buckets, etc. come to buy the plastic pellets. He noted that a lot of benefits can be attained from garbage and a lot of revenue can also be generated from it.

Agyare mentioned that for over two years now the Government has seen that the compost can help the farmers very well, create employment for the youth and generate income as well as make Ghana a clean country and is therefore in support of the initiative. He ended by saying that Ghanaians should support Zoomlion for their initiative to work out successfully and hope to see Ghana as a clean country in the year to come.
