The president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has waded into the controversies on ending vigilantism in Ghana and has called on the heads of the major political parties in Ghana to have head on meetings to voluntarily dissolve their various groups but if the voluntary is not feasible, he would be forced to initiate a legislation to end it.
According to the no nonsense president, the peace of the country cannot be taken for granted.
He made this pronouncement on Thursday February 21 2019 at the parliament house when presenting the state of the nation address SoNA to the house and monitored by Radio 1 News.
“I’ve asked the leadership of NPP to extend an invitation to the leadership of NDC for such a meeting. The security services of the country would be on standby to assist this meeting. If the voluntary disbandment by the parties is not feasible, then i will initiate legislation in the matter.”- Prez said.

“Vigorous debate and the exchange of ideas should be the true bases of political dialogue in competitions in the country not the activities of the vigilante groups. Our children and grandchildren cannot forgive us when we compromise on the peace of our country. Mr Speaker, let us come together to build a nation strong in development”- H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo.
