Abuakwa South MCE Tours Atiwa Forest, Makes Appeal To The Public

One of the hard working Municipal Chief Executives in Ghana, MCE for Abuakwa South constituency in eastern region, Hon Kojo Ofori-Safo , on yesterday March 11 2019, toured the Atiwa Forest that being his first time since he assumed office as the MCE about a month ago.
In a communique released by the NPP communication director for Abuakwa South, Nana Kwasi Bediatuo and intercepted by Radio1News reveals the hon. MCE is determined to make Atiwa forest one of the most visiting tourist sites in Ghana.

During the swearing in of Hon Kojo Ofori-Safo , he stated categorically that , he will make the municipality a tourism hub and true to his words , there are actions towards the program.

Speaking to the media , Hon Ofori-Safo asserted that , he’s surprised to see spices of tress that can only be found in Europe in the Atiwa Forest upon his tour to the forest. He also talked about breeds of birds and the waterfall which can generate more revenue for the municipality.
He therefore appealed to the industry players in the tourism industry to come to his aid with ideas and resources that can help grow the industry. He again revealed that a lot of countries have depended on tourism to develop their country and Abuakwa south can imitate them.
Hon. Kojo Ofori-Safo toured the forest together with his team, Vera Akuffo Mante – the Coordinating Director, Yaw Boakye Yiadom – Abuakwa South Constituency Chairman, Kofi Nkansah Wadieh- Special Aide, Jones Agyei Kumi – Municipal Forestry Commissioner, Mr Ewool – Director of Arocha Ghana and some members of the assembly to the Atiwa Forest to inspect and plan how to make the forest a very useful tourist site for both Local and international tourists to explore.
Hon Yaw Boakye Yiadom, Constituency Chairman also expressed so much joy and said his constituents will gain employment opportunities when the site is put to use and thanked the Municipal Chief Executive for his vision for the municipality while the forestry commissioner, Jones Agyei Kumi also spoke on the usefulness of the forest and the medicinal purpose of wildlife to serve mankind.
Mr. Ewool – Director of ‘A ROCHA’ Ghana (NGO), added his voice and called on all and sundry to help protect the forest for it provides numerous importance to human beings and animals. He again added that if the forest is protected, it would help control and regulate the climate changes in the constituency and Ghana at large.
