Asiakwa Teacher Murder: Teachers On Sit Down Strike, Set To Demonstrate On 10th May, 2019

The Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, Asiakwa local, starting from today, 8th May 2019 are on sit down strike and are set to go on demonstration on 10th May 2019 to register their support for the deceased teacher, George Somuah Bosompem who was allegedly brutalised till death by some unscrupulous wee smokers in Asiakwa in the Abuakwa South municipality and also their displeasure for the threats meted out to them amidst their effortless support to the community.
The late George Somuah Bosompem was the R.M.E and Twi teacher for Asiakwa Salvation Army JHS till 28th April, 2019 when he met his untimely death and the teachers feel the environment is not favourable for teaching.
In an interview with the Eastern regional vice Chairman for GNAT, Mr Patrick Boison, on the susubiribi morning show on Radio 1FM 100.7MHZ on Wednesday May 8 2019, he revealed to the host, Nana Kwabena Addo Papabi that it is a best decision taken from now to friday to allow the teachers and pupils to psyche themselves.
He added that the issue is no an issue of an association, in that all the teachers associations in the region are behind their Asiakwa colleagues.

However, Mr Boison revealed that the Kyebi Municipal Police have given them 5 days interval to help provide protection for their said demonstration.
“What the late teacher told us is that the boys told him he was not the one they are looking for but did not mention who they were after. so who knows the next to be victimised?”, Mr Boison said.
Four of the victims have been arrested and 2 are on the run.
Meanwhile, the Kyebi Municipal Court of competent jurisdiction has adjourned the case to 27th May 2019.
