Denkyembour District; Beposo Residents Hit The Street, Petition Gov’t and GOPDC Over Compensation

Aggrieved residents of Beposo community in the Denkyembour district of the eastern region have registered their displeasure with a peaceful demonstration demanding from the government a review of their compensation packages with the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company, (GOPDC), for evicting them from their decades settlement,”the land of their forefathers” without resettling or compensating them before planting their palm plantation.

The residents of Beposo, raised concerns on the cases of “Government’s deliberate refusal to relocate the over- thousand residents after evicting them for palm plantation”, Non-determination or negotiation for prices worth of properties and farm produce, Denial of corporate social responsibility, Delayance of payment structure, etc…..”, in a petition to the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company at Kwae- Estate, Kade, as a matter of urgency to reconsider their plight.


They therefore called on concerned stakeholders especially the eastern regional minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour, Member of parliament for Denkyembour district, District Chief executive of the area to intervene, liaise with the government to safe their lives.
