Political Scientist, Dr. Amakye Boateng is calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians to show appreciation to former President John Dramani Mahama for coming out boldly to criticize the works of the Electoral Commission (EC) and some individuals with the Commission.

“If there are issues with the EC, Ghanaians should be grateful to former President Mahama for openly, and boldly confronting it, according to the political watcher.

According to Dr. Amakye Boateng, everything regarding the posture of the Chairperson of EC, Madam Jean Mensa and one of her deputies, Dr. Bossman Asare shows all is not well therefore steps must be taken to address them before the 2020 polls.

“Everything is not well and if there is a problem, we face is head on and not behavior as ostriches”, Dr. Amakye spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM in interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com reporters.

The Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) also express worry over the posture of Madam Jean Mensah accusing her of destroying the solid foundation built by her immediate two predecessors.

“Dr. Afari-Gyan laid the foundation so well [but] her [Jean Mensah] posture is not helpful”, Dr. Amakye Boateng observed when he spoke on a local radio station on a telephone interview monitored by Mynewsgh.com.

“Some of her pronouncements are not good….why did the EC Boss attacked CODEO in respect of CODEO’s report about Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence?”, the political scientist fumed.

“If I am NDC, I will have grounds to suspect her neutrality”, Dr. Amakye Boateng revealed.

Mr Mahama recently raised concerns about Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission (EC) Dr. Bossman Asare and his boss Mrs. Jean Mensa for showing a posturing which cast doubts on the credibility and neutrality of the election management body in the upcoming 2020 elections.

According to the former President, the Heads of the Electoral Commission have become very sensitive to criticisms, a situation he noted has made them behave as if they are at war with the opposition National Democratic Congress.
