Opinion leaders in Chereponi in the Northern region will meet the Konkombas and Anufors (Chokosis) to discuss the ongoing conflict between the two factions.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Chereponi, Abdul Razak, the opinion leaders will come together and find a lasting solution to the violence.
He told Captain Smart in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem‘ Monday that leaders in both communities are worried about the deadly communal strife in that part of the traditional territory and have decided to intervene.
“Opinion leaders have come together and will meet their two feuding factions to find a lasting solution to the violence,” he said.

Nearly 600 displaced
Violence between the two ethnic tribes renewed on Friday, March 15, and has since been relentless for four days now. At least 20 communities have been affected, according to police, and nearly 600 locals forced to leave their homes.
Reports indicate that some of those fleeing, mostly women and children, are trapped in ‘no man’s land’ and others caught up in-between gun battles.
Dozens of armed security forces have been on the grounds since the escalations but poor road and communication networks in the area continue to hamper the provision of adequate security.
But, the DCE assured that Chereponi was calm and there was the need for the two feuding factions to unite.
