Student Drowns In Galamsey Pit, Police Allegedly Covering Up

An SHS two student of Nkawkaw Senior High School (KAWSEC) has reportedly died after drowning in galamsey pit at Kyenkyenku, near Akoasi in the Birim North District.
17 year old SAMUEL ACHIAW, a gold track student Who had gone to spend the holidays with his parents joined his friends in search of gold when the sad incident occurred around 5pm yesterday.
However the body was only retrieved this morning with blood oozing from some parts of the body including the nostrils, mouth and ears.
He had a swollen neck with bruises on other parts of the body; a reason why the family believes he was murdered and dumped into the pit.

Uncle of the deceased, KOFI HENAKU, Who confirmed the incident to Nkawkaw based LIFE FM monitored by Radio1News, said “the body didn’t look pale as has the case of people Who die through drowning”.
He suspects police officers at Akoasi are trying to cover up for owner of pit because they(police officers) are lobbying on behalf of the site owner, persuading the family to allow him foot for the bills involved in the burial just to cut everything short.
