The eastern regional chapter of the National Association Of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, has called on the government of Ghana to provide a state burial for the teacher who was mercilessly beaten by six teen wee smokers and through it lost his life.

According to the association, the death of the late George Somuah Bosompem is similar to that of the late major Mahama who lost his life while on duty at Denkyira Obuasi, so if the late major Mahama was given a state burial, then their departed brother equally deserves the same.

Addressing a press at kyebi after the court proceedings at the kyebi district court where the six accused were refused bail, the chairman of this noble association Mr Godwin, stated emphatically without mincing words that this is a test to the government, to know whether they are equally accorded the same relevance as that of the other servants.

“What we want from the government is to provide a state burial for our late brother. Our brother was a teacher, and this is not about association. He died the same way major Mahama died and deserves a state burial,” Mr Godwin asserted.

Moreover, he said the late George Somuah left behind children and wife, 3 children (17 years, 4years and 4months) and they also need to be insured.

The kyebi district court of competent jurisdiction refused to grant the accused bail and has remanded them till 25th June 2019 for another hearing.
