Banking Crises: Blame NDC, Supervision Was Completely Zero Under Mahama – Konadu Alleges

The eastern regional secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Mr Jeff Konadu has alleged that the current crises in the banking sector emanated from the zero supervision of the former Mahama led NDC administration.

According to him, the nation saw a complete zero supervision under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration and urged Ghanaians not to give NDC another opportunity to plunge the nation.

He made these allegations on the Susubiribi morning show on Tuesday 18th June 2019 when the host,Nana Kwabena Addo quizzed him on his take on the borrowing brouhaha.

“The borrowing we have borrowed cannot be compared to that of NDC but look at the benefits. Look at where we are today as a country. When you were in power, supervision was completely zero in savings and loans, micro finance… During NDC time, they were giving licenses to anyone who gets office and operates as a micro finance or savings and loans without supervising, ” Jeff Konadu fumed.

He added that the NDC borrowed at a time that they needed not to borrow, aside that they borrowed recklessly.

Again, the business mogul cum politician revealed that the current government as a matter of saving and protecting about 1.2million customers has pumped a whooping GH₵ 13 billion into the banking crises for safeguard.

“…A whole ₵13 billion in total has been put into the banking crises to save the customers,” he said.

The eastern regional scribe for NPP further refuted claims that his government promised not to borrow during their 2016 campaign and therefore challenged anyone with evidence to proof to him the vice president of Ghana did say Ghana will not borrow.

Mr Jeff Konadu later reiterated Sir John’s comments that if former president John Dramani Mahama still has any of his belongings at the flagstaff house, he should let them know so they bring them back to him because former president Mahama has no chance again going to the flagstaff house.
