Money Change Hands(Audio); Chief Takes ₵50,000.00 To Impose Mining In A Community – Residents Allege

It was quite distasteful on the morning of Wednesday June 26 2019 as irate residents of Asamang Tamfoe in the Atiwa East District in eastern besieged the premises of the Chief of the Community, Osabarima Kwame Okoh to register their displeasure to him for taking a controversial decision on mining in the community.

They highly alleged that the chief is influenced with a whooping GH₵ 50,000.00 to impose mining in the community of which the community has since time immemorial objected.

“It is not allegation, the Chief has been given GH₵ 50,000.00 and he has confirmed it. Abilongo has confirmed it and some of the minor chiefs have confirmed it. We won’t allow them to mine,” – angry residents fume.

They however revealed to the media that one Yussif Adams(popularly known as Abilongo), Eastern mining Association and one member of Parliament from the Akyem Asene intend mining in the community at a time the whole community have not been engaged.

Moreover, sources within the eastern regional minerals commission has also revealed that there is no name registered in their books as eastern mining association and that of Yussif Adams.

Again, the Chief of the community, Osabarima Kwame Okoh, refused to clarify the allegations when he was approached.
