Some aggrieved branch executives of the National Democratic Congress in Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region have petitioned the party, challenging the qualification of Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey to contest the parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the party in the constituency.

The concerns of the youth borders on allegations that Mr. Nyarkotey who is challenging his disqualification by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), does not meet the needed criteria to contest in the party’s parliamentary primaries in Yilo Krobo.

The branch executives who leveled a myriad of allegations against Mr. Nyarkotey including enjoying support from the New Patriotic Party said he is not known in the constituency and therefore does not qualify to contest the primaries: “We, the under listed petitioners, want to petition your high office that, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, a parliamentary aspirant of the Yilo Krobo Constituency (NDC) is not an active member and not known in the party from Branch to the constituency level for so many years until his recent appearance during the Branch and Constituency elections,” the petition claimed.

The requisition which was addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and copied to the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is praying the leaders to ensure that their petition is given the necessary hearing to protect and preserve the seat for the party.

CONCERNED BRANCH EXECUTIVES

26th August, 2019.

THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN
NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS
ACCRA- GHANA.

Dear Sir,

LETTER OF PETITION: DISQUALIFICATION OF ALBERT TETTEH NYAKOTEY AS A PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE, YILO KROBO CONSTITUENCY (NDC)

With reference to the disqualification clause in the guidelines for the election of NDC parliamentary candidate, which state that” a member shall not be qualified to contest and be elected as parliamentary candidate if he/she is not an active member of the party at the constituency level for four years immediately preceding the date of filing the nomination”.

We, the under listed petitioners, want to petition your high office that, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, a parliamentary aspirant of the Yilo Krobo Constituency(NDC) is not an active member and not known in the party from Branch to the constituency level for so many years until his recent appearance during the Branch and Constituency elections.

He was a resident of Adenta for almost 30 years but never did he associate himself with the constituent of Yilo Krobo in any party activities until last year. Our investigations also shows that he is being sponsored by known NPP big wigs.

We, the under listed petitioners, believing in the ideologies and holding the values of the party in high esteem, wish to state that, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey is not qualified to contest and be elected as parliamentary candidate for the party in the constituency.

Hoping that this petition will be giving the necessary hearing, consideration and attention it deserves so to protect and preserve the seat for the party.

Thank You.

Yours Faithfully,
