I Was Prepared To Downplay My Career To Help Akufo-Addo Succeed – Otchere Darko

A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko, has stated that he was ready to put his law career on hold to ensure President Nana Akufo-Addo has a successful government.
Gabby Otchere Darko, known for his unflinching support for the president and his government posited that Akufo-Addo has a pragmatic appreciation of whatever he wants to do hence his decision to risk it all for the president.
Speaking on Thursday’s edition of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, he said, “I made a public statement in 2012 that after this election I’m done because I think that I believed in the Akufo-Addo project and I was prepared to downplay my own career to see that project succeed.”
Mr Otchere Darko told show host, Paul Adom Otchere, that he was intrigued by Akufo-Addo’s commitment, passion, and drive to turn the fortunes of the country around after several discussions with the head of state on a better Ghana.

According to him, he was inspired to play his part and work hard in ensuring that the goals of the president were achieved.
He maintained, “If you had the opportunity to spend time with the man. You listened to him; the commitment, the passion, the sincerity and the ideas, the energy and the patriotism that run through his veins”.
“When you combine all that you are inspired to work for his project.”
The close confidante of Nana Akufo-Addo, has on several occasions defended the president on various issues some of which includes the clean-up of the banking sector, issues regarding the privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Power Distribution Service (PDS) concession agreement, just to mention a few.
Asked whether the support he gives makes him an influential background person for the NPP, he boasted that his intellectual contribution to any given situation is what makes him a vital aspect within the party.
“I think whatever value I bring to board whether in my practice and I believe at home, which my wife will obviously bear with me, I think it stems from my intellectual contribution to whatever it is.”
