The chief executive officer CEO of Kaakyire herbal and ultrasound Lab Center, Dr Eric Asante Bimpong has disclosed that a major factor of immense spread of tuberculosis in the country can be linked to some activities of christians in the church.
According to him, Christians are noted for waving their handkerchiefs when jubilating and most of the churches also share microphones during church services and the bacteria responsible for causing tuberculosis are airborne.
Dr Eric Asante Bimpong added that as one uses the handkerchief to sneeze, cough and wipe sweats, they become contaminated so as one waves in the church, the bacteria keep spreading from one person to other.
However, with the issue of the microphone, he revealed that most Churches don’t get time to even thoroughly wash their microphones leaving the microphones to be hoarded with a lot of the causative organisms and eventually being transferred from one person to another.
He made this revelation to Nana Kwabena Addo on the Susubiribi morning show on Radio 1Ghana 100.7fm and added that major symptoms of tuberculosis include; cough (often blood-tinged), night fever, night sweat etc.
