The NPP constituency chairman for Abuakwa south constituency, Mr Yaw Boakye has advised Ghanaians especially his constituents to go all out and vote for ‘Yes’ in the upcoming referendum.

According to him, some people are behaving like the ostrich so there is the need to intensify the publicity on the essence of voting ‘Yes’.

In an interview with Radio1 team upon a surprise birthday visit, he disclosed that even as the constitution forbids partisan assembly member elections, aspirants brand their colours in political party colours, so why don’t you make it legal.

“Let’s not behave like the ostrich. Assembly member aspirants brand themselves in party colours already. So if the president has decided to make it partisan, why don’t you embrace it. Support it and we would create the awareness for a massive turnout” – Chairman Yaw Boakye said.

He added that for them to succeed, they need 40% turnout of eligible voters out of which 75% of total vote casts must be Yes before the constitution can be ammended.

17th December 2019 is slated for the referendum and assembly members and unit committee elections.
