She made the appeal through Radio1 team when they paid a visit to her in her office to surprise her with a birthday cake on her birthday.

“We had one female Assembly member when the municipality wasn’t divided. But now that it is divided, we don’t have any female assembly member here until government’s appointees. We will appeal to the men to help the women since women are more than them and because they can’t stand insults and negative tags, they give away the positions” – Mrs Vera Akuffo-Mante revealed.

“Women don’t get the encouragement from family members and their spouses to go into politics because they think they would be multreated in the contest. Our men too mount the podium to sometimes discourage and say negatives about the women but women are too emotional and if they can’t stand the intimidation, they stop and give it all to the men. So we will appeal to our dear men to push us” – Mrs Vera Akuffo-Mante appeals.
