First Batch Of 307 Ambulances Leave For Northern Ghana

The various regions in the Northern part Ghana will be the first to have their ambulances depart from Accra.

Thus the Upper East, North East, Northern, Savannah & Upper West Regions will receive the medical facility before other regions.

The ambulances were dispatched immediately after President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned all 307 ambulances, Tuesday.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Ambulance Service, Prof Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah, said the acquisition is a timely one as it will help solve the issue of access to faster medical attention.

On his part, the minister for health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu said he can have a sound sleep following the inauguration of the 307 ambulances.

“Today, as we commission these ambulances, I will sleep tonight,” the minister said.

Mr Agyemang-Manu was of the view that access to healthcare nationwide will improve “tremendously.”

He furthered noted that the ambulances will be manned by the National Ambulance Service (NAS), adding that the medical vans will be distributed to both old and new ambulance stations.
