Two policemen shot by armed robbers

Two policeman who were part of a patrol team that attempted foiling a robbery attack at a fuel station close Mankessim Estate in the Central Region have been shot by the suspected criminals.
Lance Corporal Forster Sekyere and colleague Abdul Aziz Prince as a result of the incident were shot at the right upper arm and both lower sides closer to his ankle respectively.
According to information gathered by MyNewsGh.com, the police had received a distress call from the manager of Zen fuel station close to the Mankessim Estate that armed robbers had invaded the facility and were about to embark on a robbery.
The Patrol team immediately proceeded to the scene and the armed robbers whose exact number was not known on seeing the police team advancing, hid in the darkness within the precincts of the facility and started firing at the patrol team when the team were just some few meters closer to the filling station.

The police team retreated and took cover but some of the shots from the robbers hit the right side of the back door, the fender of the police vehicle and one of the rear tyres of the vehicle respectively damaging and deflating the impact.
Some of the bullets also hit the driver of the police vehicle Lance Corporal Forster Sekyere and his colleague Abdul Aziz Prince
The two injured officers are currently at Mankessim Roman Catholic Hospital receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, one X Tigi Mobile phone, one metal pinch bar and three empty cartridges were retrieved from the scene of shooting.
