Just In: Fire Guts Cocoa Farms in Asiakwa

Acres of cocoa farms are at the verge of being burnt into ashes in Asiakwa, a town in the Abuakwa south municipality in the eastern region.

It is not revealed as to the real cause of the fire outbreak but around 8:30pm today, 14th February 2020, acres of cocoa farms and other farm produce were on fire as the owners stood helplessly without knowing how to quench them.

Radio1 100.7fm reporter, Obido Nana Gyasi who by chance got to the scene called on fire services from Bunso area and Kyebi area, residents of Asiakwa, to as a matter of urgency come to their aid.

The cocoa farms are located between S.O.S and Pacific fuel station from Kyebi en route to Bunso junction.

Obido Nana Gyasi joined the helpless farmers in the night to quench the fire by using branches of the cocoa trees while waiting for the professional fire fighters.

Meanwhile, the owners of the cocoa farms had their own suspects in mind but refused to name them.
