Even as some organisations and other citizens are calling for the suspension of the Ghana Card Registration in the eastern region, the shoddy work ongoing in Nsutam/Nsuapemso Electoral Area in the Fanteakwa south district in the eastern region, was brought to a halt as a result of exchange of dirty slaps between NIA official and a poor citizen.
According to eyewitnessess, the incident happened on Tuesday March 17 2020 around 10:00am when the NIA official was on his usual work of giving some protocols to those who came late which frustrated the poor citizen who had come to join the queue at around 2:00am at midnight.
The poor guy couldn’t hold his anger since it was too much and for that matter complained bitterly. His complains also angered the official which made him slap the poor guy and assured him of police arrest for disturbing the ongoing process. The poor guy also retaliated and then chaos broke out.
When all hearts were cooled, the NIA official refused to continue the distribution of the ID cards and that has since morning halted the process.

The district supervisor in an interview with Radio1News revealed that he is not authorised to comment and so refused to speak on the matter.
However, speaking to the victimized, Patrick Agyeman Snr, he revealed that he complained on Saturday when the NIA official was giving access to a lady he had gone there before her which the official didn’t take it lightly.
“On Saturday I went to the site for my Ghana Card and as I went there I saw another lady also coming there with her friends. I joined the queue but the lady who come after me went straight to the NIA official responsible for distributing the cards and never joined the queue. So I complained and later they told me my card is not yet ready so I should go home and come on Tuesday. I obliged and today I went there early to pick my card so I can guarantee for my mother. I joined the queue and when it got to my turn, the NIA official refused to serve me and reminded me of last Saturday incidence. So I also insisted if he doesn’t serve me he won’t serve anyone. That frustrated him and he stopped working, walked around for a while and came to sit down. Then he intended to do that of the person who comes after me which again, I insisted and I slapped me.” Agyeman Snr revealed.
He added that he retaliated as he deserved it.
Meanwhile, our checks reveal that that has been the norm since they started the process. The officials have their own protocols irrespective of the time they get to the center.
They give access to ladies they are interested in, and to their girlfriends and family members when those who joined the queue at midnight are denied of the process.
Agyeman reported the case to Bunso Police station and police officers came to the scene to ensure the official’s card was given him.
