The road to elect NPP parliamentary candidates in the eastern region is getting tough as each new day unfolds.

Today, the secretary to the Concerned Youth of Atiwa West constituency within the NPP, Mr Yaw Boabeng has waded into the controversies surrounding the disqualification of one Dr Samuel Owusu Akyem in the Atiwa West constituency which then sees to allow the incumbent and road minister, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta to go into the primaries uncontested.

In a press conference organised by the concerned youth, on March 13 2020 at Palace Court in Kwabeng, Mr Yaw Boabeng disclosed that the NPP party believes in contest but cannot reason why the vetting committee deliberately disqualified an aspirant in the contest.

According to him, the MP over the years has been running unopposed but if there is an opportunity for a party member to contest him, why don’t they give the go ahead so that the discerning delegates would choose who really befits to lead them come December, 7 2020 general elections.

“We as an NPP believe in contest. The MP and road minister has over the years gone unopposed and fortunately for us he’s got a contender, why don’t you allow them all to go through so that our delegates pick the best for us?” – Yaw Boabeng quizzed.

In bitterness, together with the youth, disclosed their dissatisfaction towards the performance of the vetting committee for disqualifying 15 aspirants in the eastern region.

They however, used the opportunity to appeal to the national council of npp to rescind the decision of the vetting committee to allow Dr Samuel Owusu Akyem contest for calm, peace and unity to prevail in the constituency.

They again appealed to the party hierarchy to provide jobs for the teeming youth in the constituency since unemployment has increased.
