It’s so appalling, disheartening, inhumane and unpalatable to as a matter of fact, increase food prices abnormally especially the local ones at a time the nation is in deep crises.
Even as the globe, is in economic retrogression where all businesses are almost closed and Ghana has not been spared, market women, businessmen and woman, retailers and wholesalers have astronomically increased the prices of their goods especially foodstuffs just because the nation is in crises due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Gari, Hand sanitisers, veronica buckets, nose masks and other medical supplies meant to fight this deadly canker, have received a rise in the price by the sellers.
Gari for instance that sells ₵7-8 now sells at ₵20-25, hand sanitisers that sell at ₵4 now sell at ₵10-12. Same in the tissues and other medical supplies.

I, Nana Gyasi, a citizen in the struggle of mother Ghana believe it’s inhumane and therefore appeal to the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government to ensure price control system in immediacy since the areas not affected by the lockdown are on panic buying, panic withdrawal and panic stocking of foodstuffs all because of the fear of astronomical shoot in foodstuffs in the wake of time.
Now citizens are not bothered with the direct effects of the deadly Covid-19 but the economic impacts of the deadly pandemic coronavirus.
Wholesalers and retailers of especially local goods are astronomically increasing their prices which is making life unbearable for the ordinary Ghanaian like myself, Nana Gyasi.
Government must intercede and act prompt to stop the acts of the merchants.
The coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed 5 deaths in Ghana with 152 confirmed cases with two (2) recovery. Globally, the world has recorded 723,328 confirmed cases with 34,005 deaths and 151, 991 recovery cases.
Partst of Accra, Kumasi and Kasoa are on two weeks lockdown.
