Covid-19: Integrate Teachers With NCCE For Voluntary Public Sensitisation : Ofosu Ampofo Advises Government

Even as the Akufo-Addo led NPP government is putting in much resources and measures to fight the deadly covid-19 pandemic, the national chairman for the opposition NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has suggested to the president and for that matter, government, that there is a need to institute a voluntary public education group and use teachers to help the work of the NCCE.

In as much as Covid-19 has overshadowed other stories globally, it appears the education in the rural parts of the country is low and therefore a need to look into that.

Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo made this suggestion at the presidency when the president called upon the major political parties in Ghana to deliberate on the way forward to arresting the deadly novel Covid-19.

“His Excellency, if you go to Agbobloshie market, you may think they are living in a different country. People have not heard about that and I suggest we integrate the teachers with the national commission for civic education, NCCE to establish voluntary Public education group now that they are home. I think they would be very useful.” Ofosu Ampofo opined.

That not alone, he reiterated the president’s words that the virus does not know any political party thereby the need for a concerted efforts to fight the disease.

Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo together with other leaders of the party including the chairman of the NDC Covid-19 technical team, Prosper Bani represented the National Democratic Congress, NDC in such a great function.

As at the time of filing this post, Ghana has recorded 834 confirmed cases, 99 recoveries and 9 death. Greater Accra, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi, are on 3 weeks partial lockdown as measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
