Figthing the novel coronavirus pandemic globally is not on a silver platter as the scientists for so long have not been able to come out with any cure, an independent presidential candidate in Ghana, Mr Ossom Teye has appealed to the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government to consider giving opportunity to the herbalists in the country to also prove their worth.
According to Mr Ossom Teye who is popularly called Onipayede, the herbalists in the country especially those in the villages might have antidotes to ending this pandemic.
In a phone interview with Obido Nana Gyasi of Radio1News, Onipayede Ossom Teye who seemed more confident and had trust in the herbalists was convinced beyond doubt that when given the opportunity, the herbalists can save the country.
“You see the number of confirmed cases are escalating. Let’s also give our herbalists the opportunity to try their medicines and I bet you, there can be good results. Especially those in the villages, they have very good medicines but what we see in Ghana is that when someone dies in the hands of a herbalist, the person is jailed but a number of people are dying in the hands of medical doctors. Let’s give them the opportunity, and they can deliver” – Onipayede Ossom Teye posited.

Though he knew how difficult it would be since the medical doctors preside on all health issues in the country and these same people would have to approve any drug or medicine from the herbalists yet he reiterated the need to give them a try.
“If someone dies in the hands of a medical doctor, nothing much is done but a herbalist is jailed when someone dies in his hands”- Ossom Teye added.
The confirmed cases of the deadly pandemic coronavirus in Ghana is 566 with 8 deaths and 4 recoveries.
Greater Accra, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi are currently on partial lockdown for about three weeks now even as some stakeholders are calling for nationwide lockdown.
