The President of the republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his 8th address to the nation on measures to contain and control the deadly Covid -19 pandemic promised to build 88 district hospitals because the outcome of the pandemic has exposed the deficiencies in the health sector.

Meanwhile, in a release, the NDC member of parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency, in the central region, Hon.Cassiel Ato Forson who doubles as the ranking member for the parliamentary select committee on finance touts the promise presidents promise to the general public.

According to him, the 2020 budget and the appropriation Act, allocated only GHS44 million, equivalent of $7.5 million for the health sector at a time the public debt is projected to hit 76% of rebate GDPand about 89% of non rebate GDP by end of 2020.

He added that the government is struggling is struggling to service public debt on due date because of the government’s appetite for borrowing and as a result Ghana is paying penalties on delayed interest payments.

He therefore asked the president to show to the good people of Ghana where and how to finance those promises he made.
