Jonathan Asante Okyere , a political analyst, and lecturer at the Cape coast university, has call for the suspension of the deputy general secretary of the ruling NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen, and also charge the Ghana Police Service to invite him for a purported comment made by the deputy general Secretary.
Nana Obiri Boahen over the week emphasized in the media that, “anyone who tries to disrupt the impending the compilation of a New Voter Register by the Electoral Commission”
Whiles offering clarification to the said belligerent statement, Nana Obiri Boahen noted to Citizen Kofi Owusu on Adekye Mu Nsem radio program on AHOTOR FM (92.3) on Thursday that, he assume responsibility of the comment made, and the statement should be attributed to him and not in the interest of the party.
Reacting to the issue, a Lecturer, and political Analyst at the Cape coast university, Mr. Jonathan Asante Okyere, call on the Ghana Police Service to invite Mr Obiri Boahen for questioning over the said effusions which he explain have the tendency to cause mayhem in the country.

Mr Asante Okyere stress that the deputy secretary of the NPP did not discharge himself worthy of a national scribe.
” Obiri Boahen is not an ordinary person and whatever comment he makes carries a lot of weight, and he ought to know that” he said !
Similarly, Jonathan Okyere challenge the hierarchy of the NPP, to reprimand the Mr. Obiri Boahen for denting the image of the party, and bringing the party into disrepute.
The political Analyst, further posit on the need for political actors to exhibit depth of touch in the cause of engaging in national discourse.
He charge the NPP to do the needful by sanctioning Lawyer Obiri Boahen before the disciplinary Committee. He explained that, the constitution of the NPP is against such vile statement especially coming from frontline personalities in the party, and said for the party to hold onto its principled stand and ideologies, and as such, it is imperative for the party to show consistency in the management of the party in matters like this.
On his part, a security expert, and Executive director for the Platform for Peace And Security – Africa, Mr. Abass Osabutey, said he was taken aback after hearing the NPP deputy general amid issuing threats, to beat electorates who may stampede the registration of the impending Voter Register.
Mr Osabutey noted that it defies logic for whole Secretary of no mean a party like the NPP to spew such Vernon at his political opponents, and called on the leadership of the NPP to punish lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen.
Minority leader In Parliament, and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, HON Haruna Iddrisu, held a news conference, weeks ago, and caution the EC, that the Minority caucus of the August House, would resist any move by managers in the Commission over arbitrary use of power to undertake the registration of the New Voter for the 2020 Polls.
