Covid-19: Akyem Abuakwa Queen Donates Items Worth GHS30,000 To The Poor, Supports Unemployed Women With GHS10,000 Cash

A granddaughter of the late Nana Sir Ofori Atta of Akyem Abuakwa traditional area in the eastern region, who doubles as the Ahenenanahemaa of Akyem Abuakwa traditional Area, Nana Akosua Buor Gyankromah has today celebrated her birthday in an unusual way by sacrificing fun and party to donate essentials necessary for fighting the deadly coronavirus pandemic to the poor.

The items worth about GHS 30,000.00 includes 5,000 pieces of facemasks, dozens of Liquid soaps, and dozens of Veronica buckets. She made these donations at the premises of her house at Kyebi in the Abuakwa south municipal assembly in the eastern region on Wednesday May 26 2020.

“Today is my birthday and as God has blessed me with another year, it’s a special day and i want to do something for the poor in our traditional area. Birthdays are special but not all get the opportunity that i have. Party can wait, i can have it anytime but i’m here today to celebrate by donating these items to the poor in the communities. This is how i’m celebrating my birthday.” – Ahenenanahemaa said.

Nana Akosua Buor Gyankromah, added that there is the need to intensify the public education for the citizenry to know why and how to stay safe from the novel Covid-19 pandemic.

That not alone, the benevolent queen, Nana Akosua Buor Gyankromah who knows how women suffer especially when unemployed and therefore used the same ceremony to dash the unemployed women a whooping GHS 10,000.00 to start their own businesses to make ends meet as part of her commitment to Okyeman Women Empowerment Program, an initiative of the Okyenhemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua.

The queen mother of Nkronso received the items on behalf of the queens and blessed her but promised to act on the directives from the Ahenenanahemaa as to its distribution.

She advised the women to also make good use of the money given them and make her proud. She is doing all these as part of her services to God, Country and mankind.

Moreover, she advised the citizenry to religiously follow the directives of the measures set by the ministry of health and Ghana health services to mitigate the effects of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Ghana has so far recorded 7,117 confirmed cases with 2,317 recoveries and 34 death.
