Expired Herbal Drug Seller Busted In The Eastern Region

A Man believed to be in his 20s has been arrested at Agormanya in the Manya Krobo Municipal in the eastern region for allegedly selling expired herbal drugs.

The police upon tip off from someone who bought the drug on credit, arrested one of 4 sellers at Agormanya.

The remaining three took to their heels and cannot be found. However, the police went on search in the room of the arrested person, where additional 80 bottles of drugs and other herbal drug labels were picked, in Somanya Ogome in the Eastern region.

The drug, Ekuɔba piles mixture, is prescribed to heal stomach disorders, gornorrhea and candidiasis. The drug which expired February 28, 2019 has been relabelled with a new date as 10 April, 2022.

The drug which was brought to market and on credit from 11th May 2020 from Kidhonya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal, a total of 226 customers have bought the product on credit for payment after two weeks.

The Police Commander of Odumase Command in a pre-briefing engagement with Omanba Kodwo Boafo on Saturday afternoon, says details on the matter will be taken for media briefing on Monday.
