SAD!: A 56 Year Old Farmer Commits Suicide In Asene- Manso- Akroso District

The early hours of today was filled with grief and wailings at Akyem Manso in the Asene – Akroso – Manso district in the eastern region when a 56 year old farmer cum palm wine tapper was reportedly dead for hanging himself on a tree.

The dead body of the late Yaw Obeng was found hanging on a tree in AKyem Manso A. M. E. Zion basic school.

In an interview with the assembly member of the area, Dadieso aba electoral area, hon. Antwi Bosiako a.k.a. Bogya, he disclosed that residents of Akyem Manso were taken aback to have seen the late palm wine tapper, Yaw Obeng being hanged on the tree. Out of fear, no one went closer till he the assembly member was called to the seen and later reported to the police.

He added that the body of the late Yaw Obeng is deposited at the Akim Oda government morgue awaiting further investigations because they can not ascertain whether he (the deceased) really hanged himself or he was killed by third party killers.

The late Yaw Obeng who recovered from a short illness about three days ago was married to Aunte Emma, a chop bar operator in Akyem Manso. He was seen with his colleagues in their daily routines till was finally found dead. He was found dead in a wine polo shirt with ash trousers, tied with sponge around the neck hanging on a tree and a school chair on the ground.

Meanwhile, the family members refuse to speak to the media when confronted.

The Asene -Manso- Akroso District is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in Ghana and forms part of the 33 Municipalities and Districts in the Eastern Region.

The Asene- Manso- Akroso District is carved out of the Birim Central Municipal Assembly  in 2018.

Created with LI 2341, the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly has its capital as Manso.

It was inaugurated on March 15, 2018 alongside other 37 newly created districts.
