Covid-19: Akufo-Addo Pleads With Religious Bodies To Use 3 Days To Pray For The Nation

As religious activies in Ghana resume from friday june 5 2020, the president of the republic, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to the religious bodies to use their first days of worship to pray for the nation in this challenging times.

In the presidents 10th update to the nation on the deadly coronavirus pandemic on May 31 2020, the president, without mincing words revealed that after proper and thorough consultations and delibrations, there is a format to institute in order to pave way for the religious bodies to go back and worship.

He appealed that they use friday 5th june, saturday and sunday (6th & 7th June respectively) to pray for the nation for the nation is in challenging times. “I would appeal to them, in the case of Christians, on the first Sunday of re-opening, i.e. 7th June, in the case of the Adventists, Saturday, 6th June, and in the case of Muslims, on the first Friday, i.e. Ṣalāt al-Jumuʿah on 5th June, to dedicate their worship to prayers for the nation in these challenging times.” – H. E. Akufo – Addo said.

He therefore urged that they follow suit the guidelines to mitigate the effects of the deadly the deadly coronavirus pandemic which has claimed about 36 lives.

So far Ghana has recorded 8,070 confirmed cases, 2947 recoveries, 36 death and 5,087 active cases.
