EC To Address The Nation Tomorrow Ahead Of Voter Registration Exercise

As part of the electoral commission’s preparedness to spearhead another successful, free and fair elections in December 2020, the chairperson of the commission, Mrs Jean Mensa, will tomorrow, Monday 29th June 2020 address the general public.

The address will focus on the new voter registration exercise to clarify and sensitize who qualifies to register and the requisite requirement needed for the exercise.

In a letter released from the commission’s secretariat signed by Mrs Joana Richter-Bekoe and copy available to us reads, “Ahead of the 2020 registration exercise, the chairperson of the electoral commission, Mrs Jean Mensa will address the public on the commission’s preparedness towards the 2020 voters registration exercise. The address will be aired live on major TV and radio networks throughout the country.”

The letter revealed that the said address is slated for Monday 29th June, 2020 at 5:30pm.

That not alone , the commission chooses a slogan for the registration exercise; ‘2020 voters registration exercise, Your safety our Concern’.

Despite the numerous calls by the major opposition party in Ghana to stop the new registration exercise, the supreme court has ruled and given EC the green light to conduct a new voters register after parliament passed their C.I. which gives them the legal backing to organise the registration.
