Mpraeso NPP Primaries: OPK Confident To Unseat Incumbent

Finally, a decision is made by the National Executive committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party to conduct parliamentary primaries in the constituencies the party has incumbent members of parliament on Saturday, June 20 2020.

An aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mpraeso constituency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Davis Opoku Ansah known in the political world as OPK has revealed that with the kind of hope given him by the delegates, he will win the primaries.

According to him, he has been with the delegates to canvass for votes but the ultimate goal is to maintain power with appreciable margin between the opponents.

In an interview with Obido Nana Gyasi of Radio 1 Ghana 100.7FM, the communicator and aspirant revealed that he would be very close to his constituents and relay their concerns to the appropriate quarters for redress when given the nod.

“Victory is in the hands of God so who ever God wants to win will surely win but i can assure you that with the hope given me by the delegates, after 20th June, i’ll be given the nod as the parliamentary candidate for Mpraeso constituency. When you go to town, everyone is calling on as the next MP. You’ll hear them shouting We want OPK, We Want OPK! and i’m confident i’ll win” – OPK said.

He added that even after being involved in a car crash, the delegates still showed confidence in voting him even if he sits in wheel chair but “Glory be to God that i am well after the accident”.

Mr Opoku Ansah, a Public Relations consultant, is a long-standing activist of the party and contributed in diverse ways towards the development of the party. He is also the Operations Director of the Pro-Government pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG). The Mpraeso Constituency has been a fortress for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with Seth Kwame Acheampong occupying the seat since 2009.

He succeeded Dr Francis Osafo Mensah, who had occupied the seat since 1996.
