NPP Primaries: Fanteakwa South MP Wins Primaries, Calls For Unity Ahead Of 2020 General Election

The incumbent member of parliament for fanteakwa south district in the eastern region, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum successfully wins the June 20 primaries to represent the party as the parliamentary candidate in December 7 polls.
The member of parliament who was contested by two other aspirants secured 234 votes representing 61.4% while his closest contender, Dr Daniel Amaning Danquah got 103 votes which also represents 27.2% and Mr Eric Amoako Twum also had 41 votes which represents 11.4%.
Out of the 406 eligible voters, total Votes was 380, with valid votes of 378 and 2 rejected votes.

At the end of the electoral process and declaration, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum who was declared by the returning officer, Kwadwo Affum as the legitimate candidate to contest the general election, he thanked the delegates and his fellow aspirants and called on them to unite as soon as possible so as to win the 2020 general election.
He added that if in the last election the opposition NDC could amass about 30% of the total votes, together with a team work, they can reduce that to 20% if theyunite for a common goal.
Mr Eric Amoako Twum, accepted the results and pledged his support for the member of parliament for victory 2020. Dr Daniel Amaning Danquah also conceded defeat and asked that if the parliamentary candidate elect calls for a united front, then he should let his actions speak louder than his words and if that happens they would be on board to help accomplish the common mission to extend the mandate of the president, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP held parliamentary primaries in 168 constituencies on June 20 2020 to elect candidates to represent the party in December 7 2020 election.
