“Without Okyenhene And Atta Akyea We Wouldn’t Have Achieved These Developments” – Abuakwa South MCE Talks Of His Achievements

The Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly in the eastern region, Hon. Kojo Ofori-Safo, could not hide his appreciation as he credits all the achievements the assembly has chalked within his one and half stay in office to the immense efforts of the paramount chief of Akyem Abuakwa traditional area Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the member of parliament for Abuakwa south constituency, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea who doubles as the minister of works and housing in the Akufo-Addo, Bawumia led NPP government.
He made this pronouncement when addressing the first ordinary meeting of the first Session of the 8th Assembly of Abuakwa south today, 26th June 2020 at the assembly’s hall.
“With regards to development projects, most of you would agree with me that we have much to be proud of, with significant support from Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and Hon. Atta Akyea. I am so happy, i am so proud when i begin to talk about the developments of Abuakwa South. Withouth Okyenhene and Hon. Atta Akyea, we wouldn’t have been here” – Hon. Ofori-Safo said.

EDUCATION
Completed Projects|Activities
Construction of 1No. 4Unit Teachers Quarters at Kyebi School for the Deaf. Construction of 2 Storey Girls Dormitory Phase 1, Ground floor at Kyebi School for the Deaf. The Assembly’s assistance to the Municipal Education Directorate with GH₵5,000.00 towards BECE Mock. Renovation of 6-Unit Classroom Block for Presby Primary – Akooko. Upgrading 1No. 21 Unit Market stalls to 33Unit Lockable Stores at Apedwa

Construction of 1No. 6 Unit Classroom Block with 6-Seater Toilet Facility at Asiakwa Salvation Army School. Acquisition of Fire Certificate and COTVET Accreditation levels 1 and 2, in Garments Making for Kyebi Technical Training Institute (KTTI).
ECONOMICS
Upgrading 1No. 21 Unit Market stalls to 33Unit Lockable Stores at Apedwa is completed whereas Construction of 1No. 2 Storey 19 Unit lockable stores at Apedwa and Rehabilitation of Nkronso Market, Nkronso are currently ongoing. He added that the assembly are yet to award Construction of 20 Unit Lockable Stores at Asafo Market to a contructor.
ROADS
Completed
Partial Re-construction of 5 Km Kyebi Town Roads. Construction of 1 Km Kyebi College of Education (KITCO) Campus roads, Kyebi. Paving of 500m Centenary road at Kyebi. Grading of 5Km Apedwa extension area roads. Construction of 8 Km Apedwa Town Roads. Construction of 2No. 3 x 4m double-cell Box culverts at Bronikrom and Habitat. Installation of 356 No. Streetlights across the municipality. Repairs of potholes from Apedwa Junction to Apedwa Pigfarm.

Bitumen Surfacing of 14 Km Kyebi-Apapam-Dompim roads. Bitumen Surfacing of 9.3Km Asafo-Agyapomaa- Adukrom Roads.
Yet To Start
Bitumen Surfacing of 6 Km Potroase-Potroase-Obuasi roads. Bitumen Surfacing of 10Km Apoosi-Kyebi Aniabena Junctionn.-Aniabena roads. Bitumen Surfacing of 12Km Aboabo-Maase, Perchi Junctionn – Perchi roads. Meanwhile Construction of Access Road and Internal infrastructure facilities at greenery site, Kyebi is yet to be awarded.

Organized stakeholder’s forum on responsible mining at Adukrom. Familiarization tour to all twenty-four (24) electoral areas within the municipality. Distribution of solar lamps and street lights to electoral areas and schools. Completion of 2No. Zonal Councils at Apedwa and Asafo. Erection of bill boards/directional sign boards at strategic locations within the municipality (Apedwa, Densuso, Osino-Asiakwa boundary and the Assembly office. Erection of Revenue Chart and Gallery boards at the Administration block. Preparation of Planning Schemes for eight (8) sectors in Kyebi. Organization of Disaster Management and Sensitization workshop in Kyebi and Apedwa. Procurement of a GPS system for the Works and Physical Planning Department to aide their activities. Preparation of a 5-year Local Economic Development (LED) Plan for the Assembly. Development of a modernized automated billing system to improve revenue mobilization and collection within the municipality. Extension of water to Kyebi market, lorry park and Oil Palm nursery.

Renovation of Administration Block at Kyebi. Construction of New Office Complex, Kyebi. Construction of 3 Storey 44 Room Hostel at greenery site, Kyebi. Construction of 300 seating capacity auditorium, restaurant and swimming pool at greenery site, Kyebi. Training of revenue collectors as part of the revenue mobilization drive. Capacity building for Security guards, Registry staff and Drivers. Extension of Community Water System from Akooko to Asafo and later to Addo Nkwanta and surrounding communities.
WATER & SANITATION
Completed
Drilling and Mechanization of 5No. boreholes at Apedwa, Kibi, Adukrom, Nkronso and Adwomoku. Pushing and leveling of mountainous dumpsites and Provision of refuse containers at Newtown and Ahenbronom. Acquisition of 5.3-acre Final Refuse Disposal site at Kyebi Habitat-Akooko Road Area.

Drilling and Mechanisation of 2No. boreholes at Apedwa market and Potroase Health Center. Refurbishment of Assembly’s Cesspit emptier. Distribution of waste bins through Zoomlion to manage refuse within the municipality.
The municipal director of Education, Mrs Grace Owusua Addo was present to brief the honourable members on preparation towards reopening of schools. Representatives of Ghana Health Services was also present to brief on Covid-19 and Electoral commission representative was also there to give guidelines towards the upcoming voter registration exercise.
