“Appointing Prof Jane Naana Is Not Tokenism For Women, But A Meritorious Recognition”- Ofosu Ampofo

The national chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has revealed that the decision to pick Prof. Jane Naana Opoku -Agyemang as the running mate of the flag-bearer, John Dramani Mahama on the ticket of NDC ahead of the December 7 2020 polls, is not a practice of making only a perfunctory or symbolic effort to appeal to women, but a deserving reward.

According to the able chairman of the party, the credentials of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang makes her outstanding with the capacity to partner former President John Dramani Mahama for victory 2020 contrary to the impressions the opponents are trying to portray.

Speaking on Adekye Mu Nsem on Universal Multimedia ( Radio 1 & Ahotor fm) with Citizen Kofi Wusu, Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo revealed that the former education minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration, is very capable with all the qualities of a good leader but called for total support for her to became the first female vice president in Ghana even as she sets the record as the first female running mate for NDC.

“The most important thing i see is not only being a female but she has the capacity to govern. President Mahama did not pick her as tokenism but a meritorious recognition of her contribution to socio-economic development of this country and beyond because she is a global icon. She is not saint but she is a virtuous woman that i think Ghanaians should celebrate” – Chairman Ofosu Ampofo passionately said.

He added that it’s time to do away with the politics of recrimination and applaud her for breaking new grounds for women in Ghana and African politics.

Moreover, he appealed to the general public especially the women, groups and organisations to support her and see her impacts in governance.

“She is breaking new grounds for women in Ghana and Africa politics. She has the capacity to lead, she has the capacity to govern. She has the intellectual prowess and home sense. Let’s all support her to deliver” – Ofosu Ampofo added.

Moreover, he thanked all party faithfuls and executives including all those who lost their bids for the running mate slot but called on them to unite and snatch victory in the December election.

Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang is an academia and has chalked a lot of success in all aspects of life. The former Vice chancellor of UCC, the first female vice chancellor of a public University in Ghana. Her appointment as the running mate for former Prez Mahama has awashed social media and other media platforms since her pronouncement.
