A renowned epidemiologist of the University of Cape Coast in Ghana, Dr Kofi Amegah has revealed that with the trend of new cases being recorded in the past days, the nation should expect an astronomical shoot in the case counts to 50,000 in the nearest possible time.
According to him the nation is sacrificing Covid-19 for politics and he sees the approach as detrimental to the health of the citizenry and efforts in mitigating the effects of the deadly novel Covid-19.
He made this disclosure on the AM Show on Joys news on Friday June 10 2020 when responding to attempt by the electoral commission to move to the senior high schools to register the qualified students (18 years old and above) ahead of December 7 2020 general elections.
Dr Kofi Amegah registered his displeasure from the onset of the electoral commission’s exercise amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Sounding apolitical, he reiterated that the nation has sacrificed Covid-19 for politics and that Ghana must expect a case count of about 50,000.
