Aftermath of the NPP parliamentary primaries has not seen so many issues compared to the heat up to the primaries, however, an aggrieved disqualified aspirant has disclosed his resignation from the marketable and famous party and now starts campaigning as an independent candidate in his constituency.
Mr Moro Sakyiamah Yakubu once an NPP aspiring parliamentary candidate in the fanteakwa North district in the eastern region and known in the political phase as Kaptin Moro has officially resigned and blames the chairman of the constituency for his tribal comments and other issues the party as a whole couldn’t resolve prior to the June 20 2020 primaries.
Among other reasons, Kaptin Moro alleged in a press release that the chairman of NPP fanteakwa North constituency, B.B. Bosompem said never in his life as a chairman would he allow a northener or Krobo to become a member of parliament in the constituency.
“I was shocked to hear from the constituency chairman, B. B. Bosompem that ‘it will be over my dead body that a northener or krobo will lead the party in the fanteakwa north constituency”

Again, he stated he presented detailed documents with thorough evidences to the appeals committee and even asked why he was disqualified but till date he has received no response.
According to Kaptin Moro, the position of a member of parliament comes with a strong three thematic roles which overly identify a person as a true member of parliament and they are;
1.Service to the state as a legislature
2.Service to the party on whose ticket the candidate contested and the constituency the MP represents
3.Service to his constituents to foster developmental projects.
However, Kaptin Moro maintained that the member of parliament for Fanteakwa North, Hon. Amankwa Asiamah has woefully failed in all the thematic roles for his 12 years in office as an MP for the constituency and does not find any grounds for which the party’s vetting committee disqualified him and allowed the incumbent go unopposed.
He therefore announced his exit from the party and urge his sympathizers to consider him as the best bet for development in the constituency.
“I am officially informing you all that i Moro Sakyiamah Yakubu have resigned from the New Patriotic Party. I have called you all to declare my intent to contest as an independent candidate for fanteakwa north constituency in order to serve my people since i can never become an Akyem or Akwapem in order to be eligible on the ticket of the NPP” – Kaptin Moro concluded.
NPP Kwabena Amankwah Asiamah secured 11,380 votes representing 53.04% and NDC Abass Fuseini Sbaabe got 9,472 representing 44.15% in the 2016 elections with a difference of 1,908 votes.
