Transition Of Life: Poster Of Sir John’s One Week Celebration Pops Up

Poster of the former Chief Executive Officer of Forestry Commission, the late lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who was known in the political phase as Sir John has surfaced on social media.

The popular Sir John was born in 1952 and lived a life worth emulating till his sudden demise in 2020. His one week commemoration is slated for July 22 2020. The ceremony will take place in his hometown, Sakora Wonoo, in the Ashanti region.

He died a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party and a close friend of the current president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. It is however, revealed that the late Sir John died of the deadly novel Covid-19 related diseases while receiving health care at the Korle Bu teaching hospital on July 1 2020.

His love for NPP and politics earned him a lot of respect likewise his approach to solving issues. He once served as the general secretary of the elephant party, and is remembered for the famous ‘fear delegates’ statementwhen he lost his seat when seeking re-election.

In March 2017, President Nana Akuffo-Addo appointed the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie as CEO of the Forestry Commission. He replaced Samuel Afari Dartey, whose term as the CEO had ended. His appointment was surprising to many Ghanaians because of many rumours that he was linked to the position of head of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority.
