As December 7 2020 general election approaches, presidential and parliamentary candidates are using every media necessary to campaign in order to help canvass for votes.

The same way the politicians engage the electorate, the electorate on the other hand engage the politicians through these platforms.

Available to us are screenshots of a chat between a man (name withheld) and a presidential candidate (name withheld) in the upcoming general election in Ghana, with the electorate demanding a brand new Toyota camry from the aspirant in a tune equivalence of GHS 50,000.00 with assurance of securing 5 votes for him.

In the chat, the electorate had already made known to the presidential candidate that the electorate are suffering and now you can’t do politics in Ghana without money. Below is the chat between the electorate and the presidential aspirant;

Electorate: “The other day i could remember i told you Ghana politics without money is a thing of the past. We’re hungry oo if you have money bring it and we will vote for you. That’s all.

Aspirant: waoo, to take money or items for vote is a self sell into slavery for 4 years, your cost is the amount or money you took for vote. Is a choice the wise always makes decision. you name your price, i will check my account if i can be able to buy you.

Electorate: like i will reduce for you. It’s only one Toyota Camry. If you can afford then i can promise you win 5 votes from me.

Aspirant: The car is for the 5 or you alone, if for the 5 are you going to didvide it into 5 or how would you manage it?

Electorate: O mr, that one is cool just tell me to come tomorrow and before 6am i will be at your house.

Aspirant: In cash how much?

Electorate: Okay, including DVLA documents just bring 50,000 and that’s all.

The presidential aspirant added that if really laws were working in Ghana, he would have been arrested for making such demands.
