Commissioning the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD, at Somanya in the eastern region, the president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo revealed that he has tasked his finance minister and the municipal Chief executive to hasten up to settle the original land owners their remaining balance because they have already made half payment to them.

However, Naa Adoley Nyanteh, known to be the original land owner has disputed the statement made by the president that half payment is already made to them. She made this known in a phone interview with Nana Gyasi on Bekyerem, a political show on Radio 1 100.7FM. Naa Adoley added that since releasing the land for government in 2013, she has not received a penny of the compensation contrary to what is put out there by the president.

“To my knowledge, no one has paid anything to me. No one has also challenged the ownership of the land so if anyone tells you he/she has paid me half payment, it’s a lie. If anyone also claims ownership of the land and for that matter taken money from government then it’s 419. i want to state clear that we have not received anything from government. The family of Nyanteh has not been paid either half or full payment.” – Naa Adoley Nyanteh explained.

Again, she revealed that the current Akufo-Addo NPP – led government has since not contacted them after assuming office in 2017 for that matter she doesn’t know when and who he paid half the compensation to. Naa Adoley Nyanteh added that she would contact her lawyer who surprisingly has been promoted to a supreme court judge in Akufo-Addo’s administration.
