An astute member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, who doubles as the Greater Accra regional treasurer for the Nana – Bawumia movement, Nana Kofi Akomeah has waded into the controversies surrounding who should be attributed to the achievement of building the Eastern University, i.e the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in Somanya.
According to him, records has it that the opposition National Democratic Congress who claim to have started the project under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama led NDC administration has nothing to proof to have started except cutting sod for its commencement few days before leaving office after losing the 2016 general election.
Discussing this at the studio of Radio 1, a reputable media establishment in the eastern region, Nana Kofi Akomeah, a native of Nsutam in the fanteakwa south constituency in the eastern region asked why the NDC wants to claim ownership of a project they never paid for the land and also never laid a single block for the entire establishment.
“For eight (8) good years you couldn’t pay compensation for a land you claim to build a project on, how does it become yours? Again, NDC never laid a single block so why do they take credit. If i have plans and i don’t actualise them do they become my projects when someone actualises those plans? No! NDC has no locus to claim credit for a university NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo started and has finished.” – Nana Kofi Akomeah maintained.

Meanwhile, the eastern regional NDC ahead of commissioning the school made a release that one of the visions of former president Mahama and now the flag-bearer of NDC has been actualised and deserves a praise because former president Mahama secured the loan for the entire project before leaving office.
