Gareth Bale’s agent is due to hold talks with Real Madrid to discuss his client’s future, with the club keen to find a ‘solution’ to the current situation.

Bale has been involved in a standoff with the club and manager Zinedine Zidane for a while now. The Welshman occupied a spot on the bench for the majority of Los Blancos’ fixtures following football’s resumption in June, playing just 100 minutes in La Liga after the restart.

He was even spotted putting his face mask over his eyes and pretending to sleep while on the bench in his side’s clash with Alaves in July, before then deciding to make a pair of binoculars against Granada. Bale also opted not to be part of Real’s Champions League squad to take on Manchester City in August. His celebrations were also visibly muted when Los Blancos celebrated their league title win.

Bale’s future at the Bernabeu has been the topic of much discussion for a while, and Marca now report that Madrid will soon sit down for talks with the forward’s agent Jonathan Barnett to discuss his next steps. It’s claimed that Madrid are keen to find a solution to the current standoff that exists as they recognise his obvious talent is being wasted at this moment in time.

Los Blancos will look to directly ask Barnett whether Bale would be willing to change his current attitude and show the desire to want to become a crucial first team member again. If not, the club will have to look for a new home for Bale.

Marca note that while no club has officially bid for Bale so far this summer, this may change in the coming weeks as directors begin to return to work. Of course, the issue of wages will likely prove an issue for any interested party.

Despite his best efforts to show that he isn’t letting this battle with Zidane and the Spanish press get to him, Bale remains a world class player and his talent is currently being wasted at the Bernabeu. A move away from Madrid would be best for all parties, and a willingness to take a wage cut elsewhere may be the best way to make this happen this summer.
