Third Time In A Year, Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly Distributes Items To Persons With Disability

On the 26th January, 2019, The District Assembly Common Fund Administrator through a press release stated that the Persons with Disabilities Fund should be disbursed through the following;
- Equip 50 or more PWD’s in Economic and Business Ventures.
- Provide them with Working Tools and Equipment’s such as freezer, sewing machine, corn-mill machine, popcorn machine, barbering tools, welding and carpentry machine, shoe making kits, hair dryers, spraying machine, bees and grasscutter tools, poly tanks, water hoses etc.
- 10% for School Fees, Training and Advocacy
- 10% for Medical and Assistive Devices
Today, the Abuakwa South municipal assembly distributed the last batch of 2018 items to 21 Persons with Disabilities.
The details and quantum of items delivered are as follows;

Charcoal (Set) – 3
Shoe Making Equipment – 1
Hairdressing Equipments – 3
Electric Design Machine – 1
Printer – 1
Water Pumping Machine – 1
Speaking on behalf of Hon. Kojo Ofori – Safo the MCE who was in an equally important meeting in Accra, Isaac Ayamga, the municipal Secretary revealed that an amount of GHȻ124,081.60 has been spent on 102 Persons with Disability in 2019 whose applications were approved by the Disability Fund Management Committee as per the new guidelines.
He therefore used the opportunity to appeal to those who have not yet received theirs to exercise patience as the new trench of the disability fund has been released and would be settled in due course.
“I want to assure all Persons with Disability who have not been served that they will be taken care of in due course as 2019 3rd and 4th Quarter and 2020 1st Quarter allocation has been released. Chairperson, I want to entreat all beneficiaries to make good use of the items they have received and take good care of them. I also charge the Disability Fund Management Committee to supervise and monitor the beneficiaries regularly to ensure the items are being used for the intended purpose.” – He said.
Mr Ayamga concluded that all those who do not utilize the fund well would not be considered in the near future.
However, the federation chairman, Mr Asiamah Boateng thanked the leadership of the assembly and the president at large for distributing items the third time in his tenure as the chairman of the federation.
The NPP chairman for the Abuakwa South, Yaw Boakye yiadom also assured them his outfit would ensure the president and the party gives them what rightfully is due them. He was accompanied with the municipal NADMO director.
Present were workers of the municipal assembly including the municipal finance officers and staff of the social welfare.
