The former first vice chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party NPP of the Fanteakwa South constituency in the eastern region, Mr Stephen Ayisi Gyan who is very well known in the political phase as ‘Show boy’, has today 7th October, 2020 filed his nomination to the electoral commission in fanteakwa South to contest as the member of Parliament for the constituency as an independent candidate.

Mr Stephen Ayisi Gyan believes the incumbent member of parliament for the constituency, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum also known as Arafat is not doing his best for the constituency and therefore needs to be changed.

Accompanied by a teeming youth poised at fanteakwa south, he successfully submitted his forms in the early hours of nine o’clock in the morning.

Speaking to the press after filing the nomination, the former first vice chairman revealed that the constituency needs development but with the current member of parliament, the constituency would be stagnant.

Moreover, ‘Show Boy’ added that he wished to have contested the seat on the ticket of the NPP but in his two attempts, he lost at primaries. He however did not partake in the just ended primaries but after the delegates re-elected the incumbent MP, he realised the MP will rather retard the progress of the constituency when given the nod to lead the constituency for another 4 years.

The fanteakwa South constituency is a stronghold of the NPP and the NPP has always won both the presidency and parliamentary after it was carved from the parent fanteakwa constituency.
