An independent parliamentary candidate in the fanteakwa South constituency in the eastern region, Mr Stephen Ayisi Gyan (a.k.a. Show Boy or Dr Gyan) has replied the incumbent member of parliament for the same constituency Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum also called Hon. Arafat, who is contesting for the third time on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party, NPP, on accusations of issuing bounced cheques.
Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum has raised about five concerns and instances where Dr Gyan has issued bounced cheques but was loud on a 2016 cheque issued to him in support of his 2016 campaign ahead of the election.
However, Dr Gyan as he is affectionately called has revealed that the Member of Parliament is being untruthful and quizzed how the MP wished to withdraw a Unibank cash cheque from a Barclays Bank.
“The saddest aspect of the issue is that in the MP’s claims that i have given him a bounced cheque, we found out that there is a barclays bank stamp on the cheque. So i believe the MP has a friend at Barclays Bank and only stamped the cheque to make it look as bounced. But how do you want to withdraw a Unibank cash cheque from a barclays bank when it is not a cross cheque? He is just not trying to be truthful.” – Dr Gyan reveals.

He added that he made the payment before December 7 2016 but the stamp date on the said cheque is 12 December 2016 which he believes the MP is only trying to be untruthful. He revealed this in a phone interview with Nana Kwabena Addo, News head of Radio 1 100.7fm on Monday 12th October, 2020.
Background
Hon. Arafat on Saturday 10th October, 2020 has accused Dr Gyan of being noted for issuing bounce cheques in his ONE -On – ONE interview on Radio 1 100.7fm with the host Nana Kwabena Addo. He therefore maintained that the independent candidate is not credible to be the constituencies member of parliament.
