Disqualified Presidential Candidate Sues EC, Prays court To Place Injunction On Upcoming Election

With 46 days to election 2020 in Ghana, an embittered disqualified presidential candidate takes on the electoral commission at the law court, seeks court intervention to place injunction on the December 7 2020 general election.
According to the writ filed today, thursday, October 22 2020, with a copy available to us, the leader of the United Front Party, Nana Agyenim Boateng popularly called Gyataba sues the commission with the oversight responsibility on the Ghana election i.e. Electoral Commission.
The plaintiffs here in the United Front party and the second applicant, Nana Agyenim Boateng, the presidential candidate for UFP provides 25 charges against the electoral commission that leads to the commission’s breach of the law and eventually led to his disqualification.
Nana Agyenim Boateng with confidence that the grounds on which he was disqualified does not hold and therefore seeks court order to halt the upcoming election until he is added to the race.

“that in these circumstances, i pray this honorable court to grant an order of interlocutory injunction restraining respondent from acting on, and or in pursuance or proceeding with and, or giving effect in any shape or form to its decision contained in the press release dated 19th October 2020 in which it disqualified the second applicant from contesting the election, printing of ballot papers and or any other act leading to the conduct of the election without the participation of Applicants pending the determination of the application for judicial review seeking to quash the decision of the respondent in which it disqualified Applicants for contesting the election” – the writ read.
However, the high court is said to move on Monday, 2nd October, 2020 at 9 o’clock in the forenoon or soon thereafter as counsel for the applicant may be heard.
