The fanteakwa South member of parliament and parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP in the upcoming December 7 general election, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum, popularly known in the political phase as Arafat has denied ever insulting his constituents and has therefore asked his constituents to treat such allegations as mere propaganda and attempts to destroy his hard earned reputation.

According to the law maker, as far as he is concerned, the people of fanteakwa South are not wee smokers, neither are they lazy nor prostitutes.

“I’m not a fool to call my constituents ‘wee smokers’, lazy and prostitutes. I challenge the person who said that to provide the time where i said it and under which occasion. As a politician what would influence me to say my people are prostitutes, lazy and wee smokers? Do you think in my right frame of mind i will say this? Anyone who says that is only doing propaganda but i’m telling you that i know my people are not prostitutes, wee smokers or lazy. They are hardworking people” – Hon. Arafat maintained

Hon. Arafat as he is popularly known disclosed this in his One – on – One studio interview with Nana Kwabena Addo on Radio 1 (100.7FM) on Saturday 10th October 2020.

However, an independent parliamentary aspirant in the same constituency, Stephen Ayisi Gyan a.k.a. Show Boy had alleged that the incumbent member of parliament has used media channels to speak ill about his constituents.

“You go on television to describe fanteakwa South constituents as lazy, wee smokers and prostitutes. But if there is job for the youth, would they wake up and go to ghetto? Will they wake up and parade on the road for sexual immorality?” – Dr Gyan spewed.

He made this bold statement at Nsutam Durbar grounds on the 6th October 2020 when declaring his intention to contest as a member of parliament for the constituency as an independent candidate.
