Akufo-Addo’s Soft Loans Have Relieved A Lot Of Burdens Of Women – Ahenenanahemaa Praises Nana Addo

As efforts to mitigate the effects of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in Ghana, the president of Ghana rolled out soft loans for small and medium enterprises to power the entire economy of the nation.
While a lot have enjoyed the loans and appreciated the Akufo-Addo led NPP government, the Ahenenanahemaa of Akyem Abuakwa traditional area, Nana Akosua Buor Gyankroma, who happens to be the brain behind the Okyemen Women Empowerment Project (OWEP), has lauded the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the initiative to support small and medium enterprises amidst the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the celebrated queen, about 2,000 members of OWEP have benefited from the all important initiative and has relieved a lot of burdens of women in Okyeman.
In a studio discussion with Nana Kwabena Addo on radio 1 100.7fm, Nana Akosua Buor Gyankroma revealed that contributing to poverty alleviation in Ghana, particularly in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, OWEP has released about GHS20,000.00 to the women in the area but the president’s loan has helped over 2,000 women.

“I am very happy today because the president’s SME loan has relieved a lot of burdens from women. It has supported over 2,000 women with the soft loan and now most of the women are not suffering like they used to. We are very grateful to the President” – Nana Akosua Buor Gyankroma stated.
However, she was quick to add that disbursement of the money is not political and urged that anyone who wants to be part of OWEP joins irrespective of political affiliation.
Moreover, Nana Gyankroma said there are a lot of women people think they are lazy but that isn’t the case, rather, they only need a little push to succeed in any business.
OWEP is currently running in about 16 communities in Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area and it is expected to run in all the Akyem communities in the shortest possible time.
Okyeman Women Empowerment program was launched on Wednesday 22nd August, 2018 as part of the 75th anniversary celebration of the late Amantiremanmienu Nana Sir Ofori Atta I and go with the slogan, “Brighten the corner where you are”.
